2A Bug List
WHY: There are people who simply just undervalue these workers.
2. The RTS (bus transportation in Gainesville) arriving late to certain bus stops, which in turn will make a student late to class even if there was plenty of time to spare when the student first arrived to the stop.
WHY: It goes without saying that bus drivers are constantly driving so of course they need to take breaks, in this case approximately 15 minute intervals, which may coincidentally overlap with your schedule. Some may even sneak in extra time since they obviously don't have a someone to tell them otherwise.
3. Traffic on Archer during lunch rush and rush hour.
WHY: Archer is a main road and therefore has plenty of businesses (i.e. grocery stores, fast food joints, restaurants, clothing stores...)
4. When I show up to the airport two to three hours early but then the flight gets delayed causing me spend extra unwanted time at the terminal.
WHY: It could vary from inclement weather to a nonfunctional airspeed indicator.
5. Telling the Starbucks employee your name for the order but then they spell it wrong or write down a completely different name.
WHY: The employee(s) could have been rushing because it was busy or they couldn't hear you because of the background noise then write what they think they heard.
6. The ice cream machine being out of order at McDonald's.
WHY: The possible overuse when it works, lack of maintenance, and lack of specialists who can work on it when it needs maintenance.
7. The gradual decrease in quality of certain apple products (decrease in camera quality, poor battery life, and the product in general has begun to operate slower) as new models are introduced and released.
WHY: As far as battery life goes, in the past Apple has admitted to putting out updates that cause the battery to drain quicker so that people upgrade to the new product.
8. Poor battery life on certain laptop models I have had in the past.
WHY: The model was most likely of lower quality compared to others because of the set price.
9. Waiting in line at any Starbucks on UF campus in the mornings.
WHY: Many people like to kick off their day with coffee before they go to class or work.
10. Seeing people skip out on tipping their waiter/waitress.
WHY: Some people don't care at all or don't realize that they make most of their money from tips.
11. Someone following too close behind me when I drive.
WHY: Some drivers lack patience and want you to speed up even if you're going the speed limit or they just aren't paying attention to their surroundings.
12. When I'm back home walking my dog and other pedestrians give me a dirty look after having seen my dog.
WHY: There are many misconceptions about many different dog breeds/they are afraid of bigger animals but come across as rude when expressing it.
13. Going to the DMV thinking I picked a good day and time but then seeing the packed building.
WHY: The DMV is busy throughout the day on a daily basis but will only have 3 open windows
14. When I ride the bus and someone is playing their music out loud.
WHY: The person probably doesn't have headphones or doesn't care/has no common courtesy.
15. Having slow internet at random times.
WHY: Internet traffic could be high, router needs to be updated, router encountered an error or malfunctioned.
16. Waiting to be seated at a restaurant for a while and seeing open tables.
WHY: Restaurant could be understaffed that day or the tables are reserved.
17. Walking into several restaurants on Sunday morning and seeing how packed they are.
WHY: Many people like to go get out to eat with their families after church.
18. Seeing overflowing trash cans in public areas causing unintentional littering.
WHY: Full bags might be swapped every couple days.
19. Ordering Sprite at at a fast food joint that just tastes like soda water.
WHY: Not enough syrup flavoring.
20. Having to wait in long lines at any Walmart checkout.
WHY: Walmart will only have a few registers open even when they are busy.
Reflection: Although I had a slow start, this assignment was actually easy for me. I'm usually very aware of what goes on around me and I tend to easily notice and point out things that bug me. I do this simply because, like many others, I don't like being inconvenienced or "bugged." Sometimes I can't help but think about it when I am so coming up with this list wasn't as challenging as I had initially anticipated. Even though I don't like recalling any of these kinds of occurrences, it was interesting think of the root cause of these bugs.

Hey, I really enjoyed your post. A lot of your points were very relatable. I especially liked your points about the Starbucks line in the morning on campus, and people following closely when driving. Your post was overall really good, and I did not notice much that needed improvement, besides just making sure that you proofread for spelling/grammar mistakes. I really like your post and hope you have a great semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog! It was super interesting and relatable to see the top 20 things that bug you. I totally understand number nine on your bug list. It is so inconvenient when you have to wait on line for Starbucks, especially if your grabbing it on the way to class. I recommend using Tapingo, it is an app where you can pre-order your Starbucks order. Overall you did a great job!!!
